Sunday School – Heaven’s Express
In the fall of 2006 we began the Rotation Workshop Model for our Sunday School. In this model the children learn about God and the Bible through units such as Dig Into the Bible or Creation. Each Sunday our Sunday School hour begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Chapel for a 10 minute opening. After the opening the children head off to one of several stations.
The stations include:
- Movies
- Cooking
- Music
- Science
- Art
- Computers
- Games
- Storytelling
During the station the children have a short lesson that relates to the theme, followed by hands on activities that also relate to the theme.
The hour is wrapped up in the station with a devotional and prayer. The children are divided into groups by ages, and the groups rotate through the stations during the course of the unit. This model taps into the multiple intelligences that all children and adults posses. Therefore, they are learning about God and the Bible in a manner that relate to their individual learning style and is fun.
