Ivan D. Sisson, age 88 of Owosso, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Regency West of Lansing. Funeral services were held December 13, 2018 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel in Owosso. Dr. Tim Graham officiated. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Ivan was born December 14, 1929 in Cadillac, Michigan to the late Garl M. and Martha M. (DeJean) Sisson. He served his country faithfully in the Army's 82nd Airborne Division, being honorably discharged in 1953. On October 22, 1951, while still in the Army, Ivan married Billie Jean Swallow in Clare, Michigan. Together they raised 3 children. Prior to his retirement in 1989, Ivan worked 34 years for the Tuscola-Saginaw Bay Railroad as a Switchman and later as a Conductor.
Mr. Sisson is survived by his wife of 67 years, Billie; 3 children: Jeffrey (Valerie) Sisson of Grand Rapids, Jacqueline (Tim) Graham of Rogers, KY, Peggy (Bruce) Johnson of Lenox Township; 4 grandchildren: Wayne (Anna) Graham, Rebeckah Graham, Michael (Richard) Beecher-Johnson, Achcy Johnson; 2 great grandchildren: Stella and Caroline Graham as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Melvin, and sister Mildred Edgerly.
