Hilda Marie Seidler, age 93, of Port Austin, formerly of Owosso, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at home.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 1500 N. Water St., Owosso, Pastor Calvin Long will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, Jennings-Lyons Chapel on Thursday, December 8, 2016 from 3-7 p.m. and at the church Friday 1 hour prior to the service.
Hilda was born on March 5, 1923 in Lapeer County, MI to the late Clyde H. and Mildred G. (Pettit) Ross. She attended the first Hurley School of Nursing for 3 years and then Wayne State University receiving her nursing degree. Hilda served in WWII from 1944-1946 as an Army Nurse Corp. 2nd Lt. She married Robert E. Seidler in 1949. Hilda was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Owosso, American Red Cross and the Owosso Musical Group. She was also a volunteer for the Respite Center, a Girl Scout Troop Leader and helped at the Shiawassee Arts Council.
Hilda is survived by her son, Karl (Barb) Seidler of Traverse City, daughters, Kay (Dan) Milbrandt of Pellston, Karen (Randolph) Conat of Flushing and Janice (Albert) Bender of Port Austin. Grandchildren; Emily, Elaine, Natalie, Karli and Allison Seidler, Daniel, Sarah and Jon Milbrandt, Rebecca (Chris) Mansel and Robert (Katelyn) Conat, step grandchildren, Jason (Darlene) Bender, Trista Johns, Season Bender, Brandon (Jodi) Bender and great grandchildren, Jackson and Stella Conat, brother Dale (Sharon) Ross, daughter-in-law Jane Seidler and brother-in-law, Clarence Leazenby.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert, sisters Gertrude Jarvis and LeDora Leazenby, brother, Gordon (Clothilda) Ross and sister-in-law Mary Ross.
