Rev. Dr. David Alan Russell, 84, of Owosso, entered into God's Kingdom on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at his home.  A memorial service to honor and celebrate his life was held on Friday, October 6, 2017, at 11am at the First United Methodist Church in Owosso.  Pastor Calvin Long officiated.

David was born April 13, 1933 in Auburn, Massachusetts, to the late Charles Winfield and Reina Maybell (Mitchell) Russell. 
On July 1, 1955 he married Marjorie Carol Pierce in Worcester, Massachusetts, and together they raised seven children.  David earned a business degree from Clark University, Worcester and moved to Michigan in 1960, when his employer, Riley Stoker Co., transferred him.  He then entered seminary in Michigan to become a pastor in the United Methodist Church, was ordained, and spent 32 years serving the church until his retirement in 1997.  He served Owosso First United Methodist Church for 20 years after his retirement as a member and a teacher.

David was known as the Puzzler II because of making wooden jigsaw puzzles.  He loved a good game of golf with his friends at Twin Brooks Golf Course in Chesaning.  

Rev. Russell is survived by his seven children; Daniel (Connie) Russell, Glenn (Joanne) Russell, Brian (Barbara) Russell, Steve (Karen) Russell, Al (Tamara) Russell, Kathy (David) Burrows, and Tim (Satomi) Russell, also, his 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  His siblings; Charlotte Stevens, Lois Warren, Nancy Rudman, and Peter (Nadine) Russell, also his dear friend Sharon Flory

He was predeceased by his wife Marjorie on January 14, 1998, his parents, and brothers-in-law Howard Stevens, Ralph Warren, and Arthur Rudman.   

Memorial contributions in Rev. Russell's name are suggested to the First United Methodist Church of Owosso, or a Methodist Church of your choice.
